1. Kyle Lowry

Kyle Lowry entered the NBA when he was 20 years old. He was selected with the 24th overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2006 NBA draft. Kyle was then traded in 2012 to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Gary Forbes and a future first round pick from the Houston Rockets. 

If he played in the NBA in the late 1960s, he would be rocking a low afro and a full beard. Can you think of a NBA player that Kyle would look similar to? If not, how about 6 time NBA champion, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Below is a picture of Kyle’s retro NBA card and Kareem when he first entered the NBA at the age of 22 years old with the Milwaukee Bucks. 

2. Delon Wright

Delon Wright was born on April 26, 1992. He played college basketball for the Utah Utes and became one of the top players in the Pac-12 Conference. Delon was then selected with the 20th overall pick by the Toronto raptors in the 2015 NBA draft.

If he played in the NBA in the mid 1970s, he would be rocking a high afro and a moustache. Can you think of a NBA player that Delon would look similar to? If not, how about 11 time NBA All-Star, Julius Winfield Erving II, commonly known by the nickname Dr. J. Below is a picture of Delon’s retro NBA card and Dr. J when he played for the Philadelphia 76ers from 1976 to 1987.

3. OG Anunoby

OG Anunoby was born on July 17, 1997 in London, England. He played college basketball for the Indiana Hoosiers and injured his right knee against Penn State. OG was then selected with the 23rd overall pick by the Toronto raptors in the 2017 NBA draft. 

If he played in the NBA in the early 1990s, he would be bald and rocking a thick moustache. Can you think of a NBA player that OG would look similar to? If not, how about NBA Most Valuable Player in 1993, Charles Wade Barkely, nicknamed Chuck, Sir Charles, and The Round Mound of Rebound. Below is a picture of OG’s retro NBA card and Sir Charles when he played for the Phoenix Suns from 1992-1996. 

4. Pascal Siakam

Pascal Siakam was born in Douala, Cameroon and attended New Mexico State. He declared for the NBA draft in April 19, 2016, forgoing his final 2 years of college eligibility. He was selected with the 27th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 2016 NBA draft.

If he played in the NBA in the late 1980s, he would be rocking the famous goggles. Can you think of a NBA player that Pascal would look similar to? If not, how about 4 time NBA champion, Horace Grant? He was diagnosed with nearsightedness and wore goggles with fitted prescription on the court. Eventually, the goggle became a trademark for Horace Grant. Below is a picture of Pascal’s retro card and Horace Grant when we played for the Chicago Bulls from 1987 to 1994. 

5. Jonas Valančiūnas

 Jonas Valančiūnas was born on May 6, 1992 in Utena, Lithuania. He was considered a top prospect in the 2011 NBA draft. Jonas was selected with the 5th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 2011 NBA draft. 

If he played in the NBA in the early 1990s, he would be rocking a mullet-style haircut. Can you think of a NBA player that Jonas would look similar to? If not, how about Dwayne Schintzius, who was known for his distinctive mullet-style haircut that he called the lobster.
